What happened in 1912?
- On January 1, 1912 – The Republic of China was established,
- On March 12 – The Girl Guides (later renamed the Girls Scouts in the US) was founded,
- On April 16, Harriet Quimby became the first woman to fly an airplane across the English Channel, AND
- On November 10th, after just two short weeks of field work and a great deal of prayer and divine encouragement, a small group of people – 21 adults with 9 children – adopted the name English Lutheran Mission and attended the first Divine Service in a rented room over a postal substation at 5th and University Avenues. The English Lutheran Mission (later renamed GRACE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH), once a vision, had now become a reality with Gospel ministry taking place through pastoral care, Bible study, and Divine Services.
In Recognition of Her 100th Birthday, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Plans to Celebrate!
Save the Dates: November 10th and 11th, 2012!
