Pastor Yong Mo Lee

Resident Missionary

I was born in 1931 into a Christian home in Korea. I graduated from the University of Seoul. For 10 years, I taught high school chemistry while attending Dai Han Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. After graduating from Dai Han Seminary I served as a Pastor for ten years in Korea. Before coming the United States in 1990, I married my lovely wife, Bong Huan Lee. Together we have three children and eight grandchildren. Bong is my treasured partner in Gospel ministry.

I became a member of Grace Lutheran Church, San Diego, in 1992 and graduated from the Lutheran colloquy course in 1994 and was recognized and rostered as an LCMS ordained minister. In 2004 I retired as Pacific Southwest District Pastor Emeritus. In 1993 I began my voluntary work helping the homeless in downtown San Diego and a very needy community in Tijuana. At both locations I conduct Divine Services and provide food and clothing for over three hundred people in need on a weekly basis. This is now my life's work and passion, which I plan to continue until our blessed Lord calls me home! See either me or Pastor Bombaro to get involved, remembering that it was Jesus our Lord who said, "It is better to give than to receive."

 Gleason Snashall

Deacon

My life in faith began on 8 June 1947 when Reverend Clyde Snell baptized me at the First United Methodist Church. As a teen, Methodism proved to be terribly incomplete and I wandered away from the church. I met my wife, Doris, some 25 years ago and she introduced me to the Lutheran church. Luther’s Small Catechism immediately clarified the issues that I had as a Methodist. Pastors Rische, David Speers and Robert Waters opened up the wider scope of Lutheran doctrine and recommended some texts to read. One of my favorites is Edmund Schlink’s Theology of the Lutheran Confessions.

Now, I have become a member and deacon of the Grace parish and am looking forward to still more study of doctrine and liturgy as well as service to and with other parishioners. In my life, I have been blessed by being a member of three churches where the Lord’s love shown through the members – McClure Methodist Church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church. At Grace, the call of Pastor Bombaro has been a blessing with his commitment to proclaiming the Gospel and teaching the Lutheran doctrine.

Doris Snashall

Deaconess

Deaconess Doris Snashall is a native Californian, born in Los Angeles and baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Beach. She appreciates the firm foundation that was laid by her study of Luther’s Small Catechism at Trinity. Doris graduated with honors from Christian Heritage College in El Cajon with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. In 2001 she earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and in 2003 a Master of Arts in Theology from Concordia University in Irvine. After graduation from Irvine, Dcs. Doris was accepted as a colloquy student at Concordia, River Forest, in Illinois. Upon completion of the two year colloquy process, she was certified as a Deaconess.

Doris is married to (Deacon) Gleason Snashall. She is thrilled that the Lord has permitted them to work together in ministry. Deaconess Doris was consecrated and installed at Grace Lutheran in 2007 and loves working alongside the members of Grace Lutheran, who are faithful servants in His service.

Katie St. Pierre

Office Manager

I am a San Diego native, but grew up in a small town in the foothills of Northern California. I have two children, Anyah 9, and Boston, 4.

I first became involved with Grace Lutheran Church when I enrolled my son in the Child Development Center in January 2007. Upon Pastor Bombaro’s arrival, huge changes began to take place. I was very interested in all the improvements being made to the school and wanted to be a part of it. My employment as Administrative Assistant/Office Manager started on August 10th, 2007. I have been very active in the “renaissance” here at Grace ever since. Both my children were baptized and attend Sunday school here, they really enjoy the lessons that our wonderful Sunday school staff has been teaching.

We have formed so many new and amazing friendships; the people we have met here are like family to us. We are so blessed to be a part of the Grace family.

Danny Paylor

Pastoral Intern

Hello, I’m Danny Paylor. This is my second summer serving at Grace as pastoral intern under Pastor John. I spend my time tackling some of the tasks that pop up around our beautiful grounds, while trying to “soak it all up,” as it were. Pastor John graciously includes me in his pastoral responsibilities and care. After this summer I’ll start my senior year of High School. From there I plan to attend college, majoring in philosophy my first four years, then head off to seminary on my path as an aspiring Lutheran minister.
