Welcome!
We're happy you have found us. Here at Grace Lutheran Church, you will find a parish committed to the Word of God, faithful Christian living, and resolve to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in our beautiful city of San Diego.
As a visitor, we understand finding a new church is often difficult, confusing, and sometimes even awkward. Since San Diego is such a transitory city full of military servicemembers and college students, you are not alone. Many of our visitors are unaccustomed to the historic liturgy of the church. It can be awe-inspiring, but sometimes a little strange for newcomers. I can appreciate that. It usually takes a few weeks for the biblical meaning and message of the liturgy to become familiar. Once accustomed to the liturgy God’s Word takes on a powerful new dimension from which everyone—old and young, children and adults—benefits.
At Grace Lutheran, everything from the Word preached to the Sacraments and even the majestic music help all who enter to appreciate that we have entered God’s presence on God’s time to receive God’s gifts. In this way, the liturgy preserves the gracious things the Lord has been saying and doing among His people for nearly two thousand years. That’s why we are fond of saying that, at Grace Lutheran Church, the future of Christianity is here now.
Please know that my staff and I are standing by to answer any questions you may have about the teachings of the Bible, the Christian worldview, our programs to "equip the people of God to think and act biblically," or provide pastoral care and visitation should you so request.
Our next inquirer class (Lutheran Christianity 101) begins in September 2011. I invite you to visit our website, listen to some sermons online, and get to know the good people of Grace.
We look forward to next seeing you and yours here, where Christ comes to meet with His people.
The peace of the Lord be with you,
Pr. John Bombaro
